Bruce A. Sitton – Registered Sex Offender – Burglar

Police in Corvallis say that between August 25th, 2007 and October 23rd, 2007, seven local residents were victims of residential burglary.

In each burglary, the victims were home during the commission of the crime and each time the suspect entered through unlocked doors and windows.

Members of the Corvallis Police Department, Benton County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit, investigated the crimes and linked them all to one man, Bruce A. Sitton, who is a registered sex-offender.

Lieutenant Tim Brewer with Corvallis Police says Sitton was arrested on December 14th by SCU detectives. A search warrant was served at his Albany home earlier this month, and evidence linking him to the Corvallis burglaries was discovered.

Sitton was previously convicted in Polk County in 2000 and Benton County in 2001, for a series of burglaries in which he attempted to sexually assault some of his victims. He served five years in prison and was released in 2006. He has been on post-prison supervision since his release.

During the seven Corvallis burglaries Sitton stands accused of, occupied residences and bedrooms were entered. In some cases, the victims were touched in a sexual manner.

None of the victims were physically injured. Several items of clothing and other personal property were stolen during in the burglaries and later recovered inside Sitton’s home. Sitton, an Albany resident, is currently lodged in the Linn County Jail.

Jenny Lynn Davis – Repeat Sex Offender

A convicted sex offender made no comment Friday as an Anderson County sheriff’s investigator testified that the woman performed sex acts on a deaf child.

Jenny Lynn Davis, 29, is charged with the obscene exposure of her private parts in a lewd manner, committing a lewd act and criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

But Ms. Davis was not a registered sex offender at the time of the alleged criminal acts that led to her return her to jail recently.

Her name was added to the sex registry in 2005 after she was sentenced to prison in 2004 for committing a lewd act with a minor, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division records show.

Anderson County Magistrate Mike Smith ordered a case against her to be sent to a grand jury after determining Friday that probable cause exists that she committed a similar crime with the deaf child prior to her being sent to prison.

Anderson County Sheriff’s Investigator Gary Hayden testified that he became aware of the incident in August after officials with the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind in Spartanburg became suspicious of a youth who performed a sex act on a school bus and was acting out with other boys.

Mr. Hayden testified that the now 17-year-old student from Anderson County had been molested between January 2002 and November 2003.

Ms. Davis is accused of seducing the boy in a shower at his home near Easley, Mr. Hayden said.

Ms. Davis of 55 Scott St. in Laurens was arrested Nov. 30. She was in custody at the Anderson County Detention Center as of Friday night in lieu of a $51,000 property bond.

Level 2 sex offender was kettle ringer for Salvation Army

A Level 2 sex offender on the state registry has been employed part-time as a bell ringer at a Salvation Army kettle stationed outside the Newburgh area Wal-Mart store on Route 300, for the last couple of weeks, MidHudsonNews.com has learned.

Salvation Army spokesman Major John Hodgson said they were unaware of his background.

“We help reclaims lives that have been in tragedy, that’s what the Army does, and we work with people who have a criminal background. That’s not a problem for us,” he said. “But, when we come to employment, we have to be very careful.”

Jones, who is on the state sexual offender registry for a 1997 conviction for sexual abuse in the first degree for an assault on a 32-year-old woman in Port Jervis, was immediately terminated from his $8-an-hour job.

Carlie’s Crusade Foundation Board Member Robert Clydesdale agreed with the position of the Salvation Army.

“Salvation was a really stand-up organization,” he said. “We spoke to their national headquarters in Virginia. When they became aware of this character standing out there ringing a bell in front of Wal-Mart, they immediately acted, they acted swiftly, they pulled him, and they dismissed him. They were mortified. They were so apologetic. I would tell everyone these are really good people.”

Major Hodgson said from now on, everyone applying for employment, even seasonal bell ringers, will undergo background checks.

As for Wal-Mart, the company did not return a call to corporate headquarters, seeking their comment.

Russel Neil Gatch – Repeat Sex Offender

A 37-year-old Mooringsport, LA man is sentenced for soliciting sex from an underage child in Beaumont.

Russel Neil Gatch was sentenced Thursday to 240 months in federal prison for Coercion and Enticement of a minor.

Gatch was already a registered sex offender.

According to court documents, Gatch was arrested in October 2006 during a two-week undercover operation conducted by the Texas Attorney General’s Cyber Crimes Unit and the Beaumont Police Department.

The sting operation yielded the arrests and indictments of three alleged child sex predators in Jefferson County, each of whom allegedly arranged to meet and sexually assault what they believed to be 13-year-old children they had met online.

The online profiles were actually those of undercover investigators with the Texas Attorney General’s office.

Gatch was arrested on October 22, 2006 after he arrived at a meeting location in Beaumont, allegedly to meet and sexually assault someone he believed would be a 13-year-old male. Gatch was indicted by a federal grand jury in Beaumont on November 15, 2006, on one count of coercion and enticement and later pleaded guilty to the charges.

“The cooperative efforts of law enforcement agencies stopped this child predator in his tracks,” said U.S. Attorney Ratcliffe. “Protecting our children from sexual abuse and exploitation remains a priority of the Eastern District of Texas and the Department of Justice.”

This case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. In February 2006, the Department of Justice launched Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.

Charles DiNardo Level 3 Sex Offender lures children

A Connecticut sex offender who authorities say tried to lure a 14-year-old boy into his car in Holliston in August was indicted today by a Middlesex grand jury.

Charles DiNardo, 54, of West Haven, was indicted on one charge of enticement of a child 16-years-old or younger, the Middlesex district attorney’s office said.

DiNardo, of 94 Main St., is a registered Level 3 sex offender in Connecticut. He was convicted of sexual assault on May 19, 1989, according to the Connecticut Sexual Offender’s Registry Board.

DiNardo is accused of approaching a 14-year-old boy outside of a scale model train gathering on Arthur Street on Aug. 26.

Authorities say DiNardo offered money to the youngster in exchange for sex. The boy, who is from the south shore, walked away from DiNardo and told his father about the incident.

The Holliston Police immediately started an investigation, and after interviewing several witnesses, identified DiNardo as a suspect.

They obtained an arrest warrant, and DiNardo was arrested at his home in Connecticut.

DiNardo pleaded not guilty at his Sept. 10 Framingham District Court arraignment, and was ordered held without bail at a hearing on Sept. 12 that determined he was a danger to the public. He is being held at the Middlesex Jail in Cambridge.

“This defendant is a convicted sex offender who has been classified at the most serious level in Connecticut,” said Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone. “We allege that he attempted to sexually solicit this young victim who thankfully did what we would hope and advise young people to do walk away and notify a trusted adult immediately.”

DiNardo’s Middlesex Superior Court arraignment date has not been set.
