Larry D. Goff – Repeat Sex Offender with Enabling Wife

In the past year, records show that deputies have gone to Goff’s home about 15 times. Once, authorities accused him of choking his wife, slamming her onto a bed and punching her in the face.

A registered sex offender crept into an elderly woman’s home and tried to molest her early Monday, deputies say.

Investigators found a latex glove at the woman’s home, in the Tri-Par Estates mobile home park, and arrested Larry D. Goff about 4:30 a.m.

Deputies say the woman, 75, was awakened by a hand creeping up her nightgown, and recognized her attacker as Goff, who also lives in the mobile home park, deputies said.

She screamed and he ran.

When deputies confronted Goff, he was sweaty and wearing the same clothes — a black T-shirt and black shorts — that the woman said her attacker wore.

Deputies say they found a pair of black boots in his closet, still wet. A box of latex gloves was in a bathroom cabinet in the home. Goff was charged with attempted sexual battery.

The woman, whose identity is being withheld by the Herald-Tribune because of the nature of the crime, was shaken but unhurt. She left her home to stay with family members.

“It’s awful what he did,” said a son-in-law from New Hampshire. “Just sickening.”

Goff, 47, has arrests dating back to the 1980s for burglary, assault and drug possession.

In 1991, he was charged with raping a woman. Details of that case were not immediately available. But the charge landed Goff on Florida’s sex offender database, which requires offenders to register with law enforcement and alert neighbors about their past when they move.

Goff’s wife, Judith, says that Tri-Par residents have fought with the couple since they moved there about five years ago.

The park has a 55-and-older age restriction, and neighbors tried to have Goff evicted because of the age requirements — and his criminal history, his wife said.

Judith Goff said she was at home asleep and her husband was in bed next to her when the break-in occurred.

Goff, who is out of work and collects disability payments, took medicine for depression and went to sleep about 2:30 a.m., his wife says.

Judith Goff said she woke up when police banged on the door and her husband was still in bed. She said she does not believe he attacked the neighbor and thinks the charge is a conspiracy brought by Tri-Par residents who want Goff to move out.

Judith Goff, 65, won her dispute with the park and her husband was allowed to stay because her name is on the mortgage. Since then, though, Judith Goff says her neighbors have made her life “a living hell.”

“Nothing but trouble,” she said. “They have nothing better to do than meddle in our lives, gossip about Larry because of his past. I’m just so sick and tired of it.”

Larry Goff is being held without bail at Sarasota County jail.

In the past year, records show that deputies have gone to Goff’s home about 15 times. Once, authorities accused him of choking his wife, slamming her onto a bed and punching her in the face.

She later called the fight a disagreement and prosecutors dropped a criminal charge against him.

Ronaldo Gonzalez charged with rape – wife Catalina arrested for enabling the sick freak

GEORGETOWN, Del.– Authorities say a Georgetown man is facing rape and related charges after being accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. Investigators also arrested his wife who they say knew about what happened but failed to report it.

Georgetown police say the Division of Family Services informed the department that a 13-year-old girl had disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted by 35-year-old Ronaldo A. Gonzalez. According to police, during an interview with the Children’s Advocacy Cente the child stated that Gonzalez had digitally penetrated her in October 2008.

Police say that during an interview with Gonzalez, he admitted to the allegation that the girl had brought forward. Gonzalez was charged with second-degree rape and felony endangering the welfare of a child. He was jailed in lieu of bond and is also being held on an immigration detainer.

Investigators also arrested Gonzalez’s wife, 38-year-old Catalina Gonzalez, also of Georgetown. Police say Catalina admitted to investigators that Ronaldo had disclosed to her that he had touched the child inappropriately. According to police, Catalina failed to contact authorities and alert them of the sexual contact between her husband and the child.

Catalina Gonzalez was charged with felony endangering the welfare of a child. She was released on an unsecured bond pending a future court date.

Jose Luis Torres – Filthy Pedophile Polygamist Extradicted

Jose Luis Torres, extradicted from Mexico on suspicion of child molestation. (U.S. Marshals Service)

A polygamist who claimed to be an emissary of God and accused of serial abuse of his daughters has been returned to the United States and pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of molestation and rape.

Jose Luis Torres, 54, arrived in San Diego Wednesday afternoon from Mexico City, where he had been in a penitentiary awaiting extradition since his capture, Deputy U.S. Marshal Omar Castillo said.

Mexican authorities took Torres into custody Jan. 8 after he was located at his mother’s home, Castillo said.

He was arraigned in San Diego Superior Court Thursday on 24 counts of various crimes of sexual abuse. Family members and victims watched the hearing from the gallery.

Torres faces more than 100 years to life in prison, said prosecutor Rachel Cano. He remains in county jail, where he is being held on $1 million bail. San Diego police Detective Dianna Webb described Torres as controlling and domineering and called it one of the worst molestation cases she has ever seen.

Torres, who had two wives in San Diego, is accused of molesting two biological daughters and one stepdaughter daily for most of their lives, Webb said. The girls are now adults. He claimed that he was the archangel Gabriel who had been sent by God and that he was entitled to have sex with the girls in order to fulfill his sexual needs and pass along his seed, Webb said.

The victims told police the molestations began in the late 1980s and ended in 2003. It came to light after one of the victims mentioned it to detectives while talking about an unrelated matter, Webb said. The rest of the family then came forward.

“Whatever mental power he had over them, he had everyone convinced not to disclose,” Webb told The San Diego Union-Tribune last year.

Torres, who rebuilt cars for a living, mainly lived off his wives’ salaries while he stayed home and took care of the children. He also wrote a book that detailed his religious beliefs and was published in Spanish.

Tony Slone – Repeat Sex Offender – Wife let him do it

A long-haul truck driver was charged with abusing his two stepdaughters during road trips and fathering a child with one of them, authorities said Friday.

Tony Slone, a 43-year-old registered sex offender from Southern California, was arrested Thursday in Chester, N.Y., after his stepdaughters, ages 13 and 16, said he had sexually abused them over the last four years, said the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The elder daughter also told deputies that Slone was the father of her 13-month-old child.

Deputies on Friday arrested Slone’s wife Anita, the girls’ mother, in Victorville. They said she knew about the crimes and let her daughters go with her husband on truck trips in California, Nevada and Arizona where the abuse occurred.

“She admitted to police she knew her husband was the father of her daughter’s child,” said Kathleen DiDonato, deputy district attorney in San Bernardino County.

The Slones are from Phelan, an unincorporated area in San Bernardino County roughly 80 miles northeast of Los Angeles. Attempts to reach them were not immediately successful.

Deputies said they learned of the abuse when a high school student called them Tuesday and said she had seen sexual text messages on her friend’s cell phone from the friend’s stepfather.

Tony Slone is a registered sex offender in California. He was convicted in 1995 of lewd acts on a child and served an eight-year prison sentence, authorities said.

Authorities are seeking Tony Slone’s extradition to California. He was arrested on a $1 million warrant at a warehouse where he had arrived for a trucking job and was being held in Orange County, N.Y., said Chester police Chief Peter J. Graziano Jr.

Slone is charged with two counts of continual sexual abuse, one count of lewd acts upon a child and one count of forcible rape. Anita Slone is charged with one count of child abuse and was expected to be arraigned on Monday in Victorville.

Teresa Pearce – Receives 30 years for Enabling Pedophile Husband

A Lawton woman was convicted Tuesday in Stephens County District Court on two charges of enabling child sexual abuse.

Teresa Pearce, 37, will serve 30 years in prison and pay a $1,000 fine for each sentence.

Pearce pleaded guilty to the charges on April 13. On Tuesday, the matter was heard before District Judge Joe Enos for sentencing.

When Pearce pleaded guilty, she said that she knew her husband, Kevin Pearce, was having sex with minors, Assistant District Attorney Josh Creekmore said.

Pearce’s husband remains in custody on a $100,000 bond. His next day in court is scheduled for July 7.

“It doesn’t matter whether he is or is not convicted,” Creekmore said about Pearce being convicted before her husband. “When she pleaded guilty, she said she knew the two girls were pregnant.”

Pearce and her husband were arrested in May of 2008 after law enforcement became aware of the situation and investigated it.

Creekmore said that the Department of Human Services (DHS) was involved in a child welfare investigation for one of the minors and turned the investigation over to law enforcement as more information was discovered.

According to the affidavit prepared by then-Stephens County Deputy Rodney Richards, DHS was trying to find out who the fathers of the babies were when law enforcement took over.

According to the affidavit, one of the girls alleged Pearce had impregnated her.

According to the affidavit, Pearce said she knew other adult men had been having sex with the two girls over the course of several years and had never reported the matter to law enforcement or anyone else.

James L. Alsman – Repeat Sex Offender – Enabled by Wife

A preliminary charge of child molesting, a class C felony, was filed Tuesday in Greene Superior Court against convicted sex offender James L. Alsman of Linton and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

This is the second time Alsman has been accused of this same offense.

According to the probable cause affidavit written by Det. Duane Collenbaugh of the Linton Police Department, Alsman’s criminal history includes a conviction for child molesting, also as a class C felony, in Greene Superior Court on Oct. 17, 2003.

The investigation into the current allegation began last August when a man reported possible child molestation involving his children to LPD Officer Paul Clark. Clark turned the case over to the detective and caseworkers from Child Protective Services (CPS) also became involved.

The complaint was that Alsman had touched a small male child in an inappropriate manner.

Late in August, both Alsman and his girlfriend were both interviewed at the Linton Police Department by Det. Collenbaugh and a CPS caseworker.

The affidavit states that Alsman denied the accusation and said the person who reported it was just trying to get him in trouble because he was a convicted child molester.

His girlfriend, who has a baby together with Alsman, said Alsman had done his time, is an excellent father and the event could not have happened because Alsman had never been alone with the children in question and also not even with their own child.

At the time of the interview, Alsman agreed to take a polygraph test.

The investigation then became sidelined for awhile — the status of the CPS caseworker in charge of the case changed and the polygraph examination was delayed for several months due to some scheduling conflicts.

Then on April 1, Det. Collenbaugh drove Alsman to take a stipulated polygraph at the Indiana State Police Post in Jasper.

The affidavit states the most relevant questions asked on the polygraph concerned whether Alsman had ever touched the child’s penis for sexual gratification — he failed the test.

The child was also interviewed by the detective and a CPS worker. The affidavit says the child could identify his body parts and the members of his family and could confirm that Alsman had touched him and knew where it had happened — at a residence in Linton where Alsman was living at the time.

According to an earlier story in the archives of the Greene County Daily World, Alsman was 25-years-old and a resident of Marco when he was arrested in 2003 for child molesting. In that case, he was accused of touching a 5-year-old boy at a residence in Bloomfield.

Alsman is listed on the Indiana Sex and Violent Offender’s Registry — following his conviction, he was sentenced to the Department of Corrections, served his time then was released on Nov. 18, 2005. He is now 31 years old and is required to register through Nov. 18, 2015. The register lists a P.O. box in Sandborn as his address and a company in Bloomfield as his employer. It lists his alias as “Jimmy.”

Alsman was also arrested on March 17 of this year by LPD Officer Jayson Smith after an altercation at a residence in Linton. As a result, charges of intimidation, battery and battery resulting in bodily injury were filed against him in Greene Superior Court.

According to a police report on the incident, a male family member said Alsman was holding down his grandchild and he told Alsman to stop. An argument then started as Alsman became angry and started yelling and cussing. Alsman was accused of pushing the man in the chest knocking him over a table and onto the floor where he hit his head. Then as the argument continued, Alsman allegedly grabbed the man’s wife by the arms and threw her to the ground.

David Alvin Smith – Wife deceives church about his crime – Loses HER job – Silence is not an option

“Silence just is not appropriate in a situation like this”

The pastor of Benevola United Methodist Church in Boonsboro has been suspended from her position for not fully disclosing her husband’s status as a registered child sex offender, a church superintendent said Wednesday.

David Alvin Smith, 57, the husband of the Rev. Helen Smith, pleaded guilty in 2008 to a third-degree sex offense charge after his adult daughter told authorities he had sexually abused her as a child.

As details about his conviction came to light in media reports this spring, a congregation member alleged the information differed from what the Rev. Smith had told her congregation about the matter and alerted church supervisors, said John Rudisill, superintendent of the Cumberland-Hagerstown District of the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church.

About two weeks ago, the conference’s Board of Ordained Ministry voted to suspend the Rev. Smith and seek a replacement pastor for the Benevola church, Rudisill said.

“Our decision was because the information that Pastor Smith had provided the congregation differed from the facts and evidence in police reports and other transcripts,” he said.

Rudisill said he could not disclose what the pastor had told the congregation about the matter.

The Rev. Smith is away on an unrelated sabbatical and could not be reached for comment.

Church officials still were investigating the Rev. Smith’s compliance with church policies and expect to make a final decision about her future with the church by the first week in June, Rudisill said.

The Rev. Smith has been pastor of the Benevola church for 15 years, Rudisill said.

David Smith also is a church member and might have participated in one or two of the congregation’s singing groups, Rudisill said.

He did not have any involvement with children or youths in the church, and church officials have no indication he was involved inappropriately with anyone in the congregation, Rudisill said.

The Smiths have been away since January on a family getaway in the Caribbean that was arranged before the situation came to light, Rudisill said. The church has had an interim pastor since they left, he said.

The Rev. Smith’s absence has complicated the church’s investigation into the complaint filed against her, but she is expected back soon, Rudisill said.

The church has a “Safe Sanctuary” policy that requires members to disclose any information they have about congregation members who are convicted of a sexual offense, Rudisill said. Once that information is available to church leaders, the pastor is obligated to report it to a supervisor, he said.

The policy is intended to ensure the safety of children and to encourage anyone else who might have been a victim of a sex offender to come forward for help, Rudisill said.

“Silence just is not appropriate in a situation like this,” he said.

Clyde Williams Sr. – Repeat Sex Offender – Molests child with assistance of wife

Williams’ wife, Kristi Williams, 30, was aware of the crime and had done nothing to assist the child or notify authorities, the release said.

A registered sex offender and his wife were arrested Thursday on new charges involving the sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was tipped on March 23 that a child under the age of 12 had been molested by Clyde Williams Sr., 53, of Sneads, who is a registered sex offender, according to a news release. During the investigation, authorities found that Williams’ wife, Kristi Williams, 30, was aware of the crime and had done nothing to assist the child or notify authorities, the release said.

Clyde Williams Sr. was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation and child abuse. Kristi Williams was charged with child neglect. They were taken to the Jackson County Correctional Facility.

The Sheriff’s Office asked anyone with information about this incident to call 850-482-9664, or call Crimestoppers at 850-526-5000.

Dale Schaeffer – Repeat Sex Offender – Enabled by wife

Five years ago, a Lehigh Township man escaped with probation for fondling a 14-year-old boy. The judge said he was persuaded by the man’s apparent success as a father and the impassioned pleas of his longtime wife.

On Friday, Dale Schaeffer was before the same judge on a second sex offense conviction. This time, Northampton County Judge Leonard Zito sent him to state prison after hearing similar testimony from the wife, who fainted during the proceeding and had to be brought a chair.

”I am confronted now with a much different situation,” Zito said. ”He is clearly a repeat offender. He is clearly an individual who has not changed since I last saw him.”

Schaeffer, 68, must serve 18 months to three years on misdemeanor charges of indecent assault and corruption of minors. He admitted to rubbing the chest of, and talking sexually with, a 17-year-old boy who had dropped by his house while looking for a missing cat.

Schaeffer told a probation officer that he has molested 13 children in his lifetime and engaged in casual sex with men and women, according to a presentence investigation.

As he was led out of the courtroom in handcuffs, he muttered something to the victim’s mother, prompting a sheriff’s deputy to tell him to be quiet.

Assistant District Attorney Patricia Broscius said Schaeffer is a dangerous man, and she had asked for the maximum sentence of up to seven years.

”He’s demonstrated that he has no control over his issues,” Broscius said. ”He’s got a sexual aggression that he cannot control.”

Schaeffer suffers from many health concerns, including diabetes and high blood pressure, according to his wife, Barbara, and defense attorney Edmund Healy.

”I’m worried about his medical care when he goes to prison,” said Barbara Schaeffer. ”I’m worried he won’t make it through.”

Schaeffer apologized in court and said he re-enrolled in sex offender therapy immediately after what he did.

”It took just 10 seconds to screw another family up and hurt my wife more than I did before,” Schaeffer said.

In the 2004 case, Zito gave Schaeffer 18 months of probation on a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault. A year later, he was resentenced to three to six months in prison after he was kicked out of treatment for being dishonest, according to the court record.

After he serves his new prison sentence, Schaeffer will have two years of probation.

Todd J. Lance – Repeat Sex Offender –

“It’s the court’s job to make sure there is not a third victim because the chance of recidivism is not only frighteningly high, it is guaranteed,” Perkins said. “This is a dangerous, dangerous person and despite all the good things that were said about him that may be one side to him, the other side is a sexual monster.”

Todd J. Lance’s past came back to haunt him Tuesday.

The convicted sex offender was sentenced to nine years in prison for molesting a girl while he still was on probation for his first crime.

The 48-year-old man faced three to 14 years in prison. He is eligible for parole after serving half the prison term.

“The molestation of a child is probably the most serious offense – short of homicide – that one can commit,” DuPage Circuit Judge John Kinsella said. “It’s difficult to ever measure the effect this can have on a child.”

Kinsella convicted Lance Jan. 30 of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for fondling the child, who was 11 or 12, beneath her clothing one night in 2003 in Elmhurst. She did not report the abuse until April 2007 to a school counselor.

Her outcry sparked an emotional court case. The girl’s father stood by her, but her mother and sister sided with Lance. One-half dozen sheriff deputies stood guard Tuesday in the courtroom gallery filled with both victims, relatives and members of Lance’s church who insisted he is a changed man.

Afterward, as deputies led Lance off to jail, the brother of Lance’s first victim shouted, “Burn in hell, Todd.” Deputies ordered him and another woman out of the courtroom.

In his earlier crime, Lance was accused of molesting a boy, beginning when the child was in the third grade, about three times a week for nine years. Lance pleaded guilty to the crime in April 2000, and was ordered to serve a one-year work-release jail sentence and four years’ of a stricter form of probation. He also had to register as a sex offender.

He later became active in Elmhurst’s West Suburban Community Church, which is how he met the girl’s family, and still was on probation when she said the abuse occurred.

Police arrested Lance in April 2007 after they said he admitted fondling her. But Lance testified during his January trial that it was an accident.

Lance said he unintentionally touched her while asleep because he thought she was his wife, who also was in the bed and had allowed her daughter to climb in with them after the child had a nightmare.

His defense team, Stacey McCullough and Daniel Brown, sought the minimum punishment after citing Lance’s strong work ethic, church involvement and community and family support. Prosecutors Brian Perkins and Enza LaMonica asked for a 12-year term.

The girl now lives with her father in Lake County. Lance’s last address was in Downers Grove. Upon his release from prison, Lance must serve four years’ of mandatory supervised release and continue to register as a convicted sex offender.
