Robert Williams – Repeat Sex Offender – Internet Predator – "every parent’s worst nightmare"

A SEXUAL predator abducted a 15-year-old girl and fled with her to France weeks after being freed on bail over another relationship with a youngster.

Robert Williams – described as “every parent’s worst nightmare” – was yesterday jailed for five years at Grimsby Crown Court, after earlier pleading guilty to child abduction and sexual activity with a child.

He will serve half of his sentence, less the 119 days he has spent on remand, and was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.

The father-of-three was on bail at the time of the incident in January this year after a complaint about a similar case involving another teenage girl.

In the first incident Williams, a lorry driver, met a 16-year-old girl on the internet and travelled from Scotland to Sussex to meet her, before booking into a hotel where the pair had sex.

He was interviewed and bailed but never charged.

But within weeks Williams arranged to meet a “naive” and “vulnerable” teenager from Cleethorpes, and whisked her off to France after taking her from her home in North East Lincolnshire on January 14.

Williams, 49, of Glebe Road, Whitburn, West Lothian, met the 15-year-old in a chatroom, where she had previously been talking to his son. He told her he was 19 and sent her a photograph of a man with a muscular body.

The court heard Williams was aware that the girl was 15 and when he later confessed his real age, she was said to be “unperturbed” by the truth.

The teenager told friends she had fallen in love with Williams and they would become engaged. During the two days before the pair went missing, they exchanged a “barrage” of nearly 500 text messages.

Williams and the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, travelled by train from Grimsby to Doncaster and then on to London, where they booked into a hotel room and had unprotected sex twice.

The next day they travelled to France by ferry and were found a week later, on January 21, when they went to the British Consulate in Lille. Staff at the Consulate contacted police and Williams was arrested.

Prosecutor Jeremy Evans told the court the girl was a virgin and did not want to have sex with him, but did not tell him.

Mr Evans said: “She says she wanted to wait until she left school and met the right person before losing her virginity, but said she did not ask the defendant to stop.”

Mr Evans said the girl told police she wanted to go home after they reached France and felt relief when they were found.

Sentencing Williams, Judge David Tremberg told him: “She appears to have been a particularly naive young girl for her years and vulnerable to the attentions of a man like you.”

He added: “The complainant feels used, which she has been.

“She is withdrawn, the effect on her and her relationship with her family has been substantial. She feels isolated and unhappy.”

In a statement read by Det Chief Insp Sharon Fielding, of Humberside Police, the girl’s family said: “We are pleased that this man is now behind bars as it means we can put this ordeal behind us and move on as a family.

Speaking for the Crown Prosecution Service outside court, Mr Evans called Williams “every parent’s worst nightmare”.

The founder and director of a private Tualatin-based arts program was arrested today and accused by police of raping a young boy five years ago.

Melissa L. Stephens, 55, was accused of engaging in sexual acts, including intercourse, with the boy, who was about 10 or 11 years old, said Jennifer Massey, spokeswoman for Tualatin Police.

Stephens is founder and director of Willow Cottage Arts and Academics Program, a private arts program offering alternative education opportunities for children. It caters to students from kindergarten to the eighth grade, according to its web site.

The private school also conducts a summer arts program at Brown’s Ferry Park in Tualatin. According to the school web site, the summer program has been in existence since 1987. Massey said it runs for six weeks and caters to approximately 300 to 400 children ranging in age from 3 to 18.

Stephens was arrested at the school, located at 18815 S.W. Boones Ferry Road, at 10 a.m., Massey said.

Massey said police learned of Stephens’ alleged involvement with the boy on Monday.

Massey did not say now Stephens knew the boy, whether he was a student at the school or if police believe there may be other victims.

Massey said the investigation was handled jointly by Tualatin Police and the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

Stephens was accused of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and first-degree sex abuse. Stephens is scheduled to be arraigned at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Washington County Courthouse.

The case remains under investigation, Massey said.

A homeless man has been charged in the brutal rape of a woman in Downtown Memphis.

It happened in a downtown office building, Monday, June 8, 2009. According to investigators, a homeless man was let into the building to use a restroom. Police say the man became violent at some point while in the building and bound a woman’s mouth and hands. Investigators say he slammed her head into the toilet and raped her.

Memphis Police Detective Monique Martin says 44 year-old Lewis Young was named as the suspect in the case, during the investigation. Officers, Martin says spotted Young walking along the 600 block of Madison Avenue, around 3:00 a.m., Tuesday and arrested him.

Young has been charged with aggravated rape, especially aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping. Police say Young’s rap sheet is about 100 pages long with charges including sexual battery, burglary and robbery.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said an arrest warrant for first-degree rape was issued Monday for Mark Anthony Hurley, 32, whose last known address was 522 Filmore St., Russellville.

Hargett said investigators received information Tuesday morning that Hurley could be armed with a handgun.

“Under the circumstances, we are considering him to be dangerous,” the chief said.

Police say the attack against the girl occurred early Sunday at Hurley’s residence. The chief said the girl knew Hurley and had been with him at a gathering Saturday night.

Hargett said the girl reported that she was choked and hit several times in the face. He said scratch marks and bruising were visible on the her face and marks could be seen on her throat.

“She was pretty beat up and had to receive medical treatment,” Hargett said.

Hurley is a registered sex offender. According to the National Sex Offender Registry, Hurley was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse April 5, 2002, involving a 17-year-old girl.

Officials with Rape Response in Florence said it’s not uncommon for the victim of a rape to know her attacker.

“A sexual assault happens every two minutes in this country, and nearly 80 percent of the victims know their attackers,” said Cathy Connolly, director of Rape Response.

Connolly said physical injuries that occur during a sexual attack are not as common, “but they do happen.”

“There is always emotional scars and sometimes there are physical scars as well,” Connolly said.

She said statistics indicate that victims age 12-18 are the highest risk for sexual attack.

According to the sex offender registry, Hurley is described as a black man, 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 185 pounds. He is bald with brown eyes a goatee.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 332-2230 or CrimeStoppers at 386-8685.

Timothy David Schwiederek – Internet Predator – MySpace

A 27-year-old Coweta County resident has been arrested for allegedly using the Internet and his cell phone to send obscene material to a 15-year-old.

Authorities believe there are other victims locally and are urging them to come forward.

Timothy David Schwiederek, of 26 Price Road, Newnan, was taken into custody without incident on June 6, charged with computer pornography and child exploitation as well as electronically furnishing obscene material, according to Major James Yarbrough of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

On June 4, the sheriff’s office began investigating a report by a local citizen that a 15-year-old girl was receiving obscene materials through the online social networking site MySpace and on her cell phone. Schwiederek was chatting online under the nickname “Tater,” say authorities.

The suspect allegedly posed as one of the victim’s friends to gain access to her page. The victim’s cell phone number was on her page, which Schwiederek reportedly used to make sexual advances and send nude pictures. He also sent inappropriate material through MySpace.

Investigators traced the illegal activity to Schwiederek, a janitor at the Fulton County Airport at Charlie Brown Field. They executed a search warrant at his residence and found “a lot of pornography,” according to Yarbrough. Authorities seized his computer, which will be analyzed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Police also found notebooks at Schwiederek’s home that contained names of girls with their e-mail addresses and other contact information, according to the major.

“We believe he’s done this to other individuals,” said Yarbrough.

Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Schwiederek should contact Yarbrough or Inv. Jason Fetner at 770-253-1502.

Yarbrough reminds users of social networking sites to limit the personal information they put on their profile.

Jackson police have arrested a man they believe raped and robbed a woman early this morning.

Terry Ware, 38, of Jackson, has been charged with aggravated rape and aggravated robbery in the attack, according to a news release from the Jackson Police Department.

The woman told police she was leaving Preston Alley and walking across Railroad Street around 1:40 a.m. when a stranger jumped out of the bushes and grabbed her from behind.

The man demanded money, put his arms around her throat and threw her to the ground, the news release said.

He then held a sharp object to her throat and sexually assaulted her.

The man took a cell phone from the woman’s purse before leaving the scene.

About 30 minutes later, police Sgt. Greg Slack saw a man, later identified as Ware, in the 200 block of Jackson Street. He matched the description the woman had given police, and she later identified him as her attacker.

Pedophile Enabler Geneva Hilliard told victim to "shut up and not tell anyone"

“by not telling you become part of the crime”

An awful crime goes unreported and causes a juvenile victim to suffer in silence for years. Waco police say knowing about a crime and not telling them could also land you in jail.

News Channel 25 reported in late April about Thomas Hilliard, who was sentenced to eight life terms in prison for sexually abusing a young girl, continually over several years. But police say someone else knew about the sexual abuse and never reported it. Sixty-four year old Geneva Hilliard was arrested Wednesday night for abandoning and endangering a child.

According to the arrest warrant, Hilliard was told by the victim about the abuse but Hilliard told the young girl, to quote, “shut up and not tell anyone.” To make matters worse, police say the victim was still exposed to Thomas Hilliard who was abusing her.

Waco Police Detective Kim Clark says unfortunately this happens a lot in child sexual abuse cases. Many times adults don’t want to believe the abuse is occurring. But she says by not telling you become part of the crime.

“Even if you don’t believe the child, you have to report it because children give little bits and pieces to get people’s reaction. You may not get the whole story until somebody starts believing them. If no one gives them the opportunity to speak then they’ll remain quiet and it will continue to happen,” said Clark.

Thomas Hilliard is serving his eight life terms while Geneva Hilliard bonded out of the McLennan County Jail Thursday morning.
