Repeat Sex Offender, an internet predator – Raymond Andrew Deba of Texas, busted in action by Perverted Justice
For close to a year now, the Goliad County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Goliad District Attorney’s Office, headed by Mr. Michael Sheppard, have been working on the investigation of online predators.
“My Chief Deputy Bill Schaefer and Investigator Danny Madrigal have been working with an online adult contributor posing as a 14 year old girl in Goliad, said Goliad County Sheriff Robert DeLaGarza. Our contributor has been working with Chief Schaefer for months on a male subject identified as RAYMOND ANDREW DEBA, 50 years of age, from Austin.”
Deba was arrested by officers and reserves with the Goliad County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday July 12 at approximately 12:10pm after receiving word from our online contributor that he was enroute to Goliad from Austin with the assumption that he was going to meet the 14 year old girl.
Deba was arrested without incident at a predetermined location and was transported to the Goliad County Jail where he is being held on a bond of $40,000 for ONLINE SOLICITATION OF A MINOR TO MEET WITH INTENT OF SEXUAL CONTACT.
An investigation of Deba shows that he was arrested in San Antonio on November 10,2004 for ONLINE SOLICITATION OF A MINOR, and was sentenced to 3 years in the Texas Department of Corrections. Deba was paroled in 2007 and it was discovered he is a registered sex offender in Travis County. Since his arrest in Goliad, DEBA has been formally charged with a warrant for his arrest out of Travis County for FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH SEX OFFENDER REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS, a 3 rd degreeFelony. The bond amount has been set at $100,000 in Travis County.
“With the information and technology that we have at our fingertips now, it is unfortunate that we have individuals such as RAYMOND ANDREW DEBA, who prey upon unsuspecting innocent children,” said Sheriff DeLaGarza.
Raymond Deba was already a Registered Sex Offender in the state of Texas when he contacted my 14 year old persona. He was also still on probation after release from prison after a prior conviction for “Online Solicit Minor To Meet w/int Sexual Contact” among other charges. But once again, we have an example showing that this obsession is not one that can be cured by some prison time. Ray worked very hard for over two and a half months to groom who he thought was a 14 year old girl, and tried to coax her to meet him constantly. It took him some time to work up to his true intentions to have sex, which is frightening, when you think that a vulnerable lonely child might have been convinced to meet with his promises of trips to amusement parks and of gifts he would buy her. After he made his intentions for sex clear, he proceeded to attempt to educate my persona on the various techniques he wanted to perform with her.
Perhaps the most disturbing part of this chat was when he said he was going to buy the “morning after pill” for this 14 year old girl, and then instructed her on the proper way to take it. This shows he had no intention of using birth control, and selfishly had no concern for what this pill and his own actions might physically do to a child. He was just trying to destroy evidence that might have gotten him into trouble.
When my 14 year old persona finally gave in to his persistent requests to meet, it was law enforcement and not a real child waiting for him in a park in Goliad Texas. He pled out in District Court to 20 years for Online Solicitation of a Minor and 35 years for Online Solicitation of a Minor with Intent to Commit a Sexual Act. He also faced charges for Violation of Sex Offender Registration in Travis County. Chief Deputy Bill Schaefer is dedicated to protecting the children of Texas, and has my extreme gratitude for his professionalism and commitment. He and his department were a pleasure to work with.
