Tom Pollacci, a registered sex offender, faces up to eight years in prison if convicted of three felony counts relating to an incident that allegedly occurred last spring in Pacific Grove. He is free on a $500,000 bond, but is due back in court April 2 for a hearing requested by prosecutors who want to raise his bail. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 5.
Police say Pollacci, 49, delivered the unconscious woman to the emergency room at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula in the early morning hours of April 21. She had a fractured skull and was bleeding in her brain. Court records indicate police believe she was struck with a blunt object.
Pollacci admitted to having sex with the woman, a former Pebble Beach resident who was visiting from Colorado, but said the sex was consensual. He told police that the woman visited him at his family’s liquor store earlier that night, but left. It was not until later that he found her injured in her car and drove her to the hospital.
