Michael Hamblin – Repeat Sex Offender $1 million bond

Hamblin is a tier III repeat sex offender whose crimes against children in West Chester Twp. in 2005 led to tougher state laws against sexual predators.

Hamblin approached four children at a playground on Sunday, June 22, in Heritage Oak Park and tried to lure them into the woods, offering to show them a flying squirrel.

A Hamilton man accused of luring young girls in a Mason park will have to pay $1 million to get out of the Warren County Jail.

Michael Hamblin, 38, pleaded not guilty Wednesday, July 9, in Warren County Common Pleas Court to grand jury indictments on four counts of child enticement. The fifth-degree felonies could land him up to four years in prison if he’s found guilty.

Warren County Prosecutor Rachel Hutzel had said she’d request the $750,000 bond set by Mason Municipal Court Judge D. Andrew Batsche remain in place, but Warren County Common Pleas Judge Andrew Hasselbach set bond at $1 million.

The judge appointed attorney Terrence McNamara to represent Hamblin.

A woman said Hamblin approached four children at a playground on Sunday, June 22, in Heritage Oak Park and tried to lure them into the woods, offering to show them a flying squirrel.

Oxford police arrested him on Thursday, June 26, after a resident tipped off police. He was captured about three hours after his photograph appeared in news media in connection with the Mason case.

Hamblin is a tier III repeat sex offender whose crimes against children in West Chester Twp. in 2005 led to tougher state laws against sexual predators.

Following a conviction in the West Chester Twp. case, Hamblin was accused of public indecency in December 2006 in Butler County. He was sentenced to 90 days in Butler County Jail. Two days earlier, he was charged with the same crime in Warren County in a separate incident.

Police in Liberty Twp. and Monroe are expected to question Hamblin, whose last known address was in the 5000 block of Augspurger Road, in connection with similar crimes in their communities, officials said.
