Matthew Alan Clack – Child Molester Facing even more Charges

Police are recommending more charges against a man being held on suspicion of sexual assault and attempted kidnapping arrested near Queen Creek last week.

Serial molestation suspect arrested near QC

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said Monday it suggested additional charges against Matthew Alan Clack, 24, of Queen Creek – six counts of possessing child pornography plus a count of child molestation.

Following his arrest, Clack was being held in jail on suspicion of sexual assault and attempted kidnapping.

Clack was taken into custody after a 13-year-old girl he is accused of attacking in July spotted him at a park and neighbors chased and caught him, authorities said.

The girl’s accusation is at the heart of the molestation charge, as well as the original charges upon which Clack was booked, sheriff’s office spokesman Mike Minter said.

The possession of child pornography counts came after authorities executed search warrants of his residence, personal computer and vehicle, Minter said.

Last summer, a series of molestations and attempted kidnappings took place in the Castlegate and Pecan Creek neighborhoods in an unincorporated area east of Queen Creek.

On Wednesday night, the girl saw a man at a Pecan Creek neighborhood park and yelled, “That’s him.” Clack bolted, but several residents chased and detained him.

Clack is being held in the Pinal County jail separate from other inmates, Minter said.

Sheriff Chris Vasquez said his department, along with other agencies, is trying to locate other possible victims. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Lisa Swinton at (520) 866-5149.

James Hope – Serial Child Molester – No basis for leniency

Serial child molester James Hope, who authorities said courted single mothers over the Internet to get to their young daughters, was sentenced Monday to a third, consecutive life sentence for one count of lewdness with a child under 14.

Hope, 43, a house painter and former Carson City police cadet, will not be eligible for parole for at least 24 years.

“The court can’t find a basis for leniency,” said Douglas District Judge Michael Gibbons. “The No. 1 objective is to protect the public.”

Gibbons’ referred to Hope’s two prior felony convictions in Washington and Carson City, the fact that he changed his identity to lure another victim, and eluded capture for two years before he was arrested.

“You are a repeat offender, you have caused significant harm, and the likelihood of rehabilitation is speculative,” Gibbons said.

Hope, who formerly owned Hope’s Painting & Drywall, was arrested in May 2004 and ordered to stand trial in Carson City on four counts of lewdness with a minor under the age of 14 and one count of sexual assault of a child under 14. The two victims in the case were 4 and 6 at the time.

Then while out on $100,000 bail, Hope asked a 10-year-old Minden girl, with whom he was acquainted, a sexually suggestive question, licked her face and put his hand in her pants while her mother was in another room, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department. That offense resulted in today’s sentence.

Brian K. Nolt – 272 Felony Counts – Internet Predator with Child Porn

Reinaker told Nolt the 272 felonies carry combined maximum penalties of 1,917 years in prison and more than $4.9 million in fines.

Using the screen name, “bkn1401,”

A 48-year-old Columbia man nabbed in 2006 by Pennsylvania’s Child Predator Unit pleaded guilty Monday to hundreds of felony sex offenses.

Brian K. Nolt, formerly of 1401 Cloverton Drive, is accused of having explicit online conversations with an undercover agent he thought was a 12-year-old girl. He allegedly tried to arrange a meeting with “the girl” during the online chats, according to investigators.

Nolt pleaded guilty before Lancaster County Judge Dennis E. Reinaker to 270 felony counts of sexual abuse of children.

Agents from the state attorney general’s office found hundreds of photos of underage children engaged in sexual acts on a hard drive seized from Nolt’s computer.

Nolt also pleaded guilty to an attempt to have unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of his personal computer.

Reinaker told Nolt the 272 felonies carry combined maximum penalties of 1,917 years in prison and more than $4.9 million in fines.

Mike Sprow, an attorney with the state attorney general’s office, is prosecuting the case.

Nolt and defense attorney Janice Martino Longer both deferred making statements until the sentencing. That hearing will be held after an investigation of Nolt’s background is completed.

Nolt was arrested in May 2006 by agents from the state’s Child Predator Unit and Elizabethtown Borough police officers.

Using the screen name, “bkn1401,” Nolt first made contact with the undercover agent on Feb. 3, 2006, according to an affidavit filed in the case. He claimed to be a 36-year-old man from Lancaster, the affidavit states.

Nolt’s first message to “the girl” was typed, “Hi sexy,” the affidavit states.

Nolt continued making contact with “the girl,” using more explicit sexual references over time, investigators said. He would describe specific acts he wanted to perform on “the girl,” according to the affidavit.

Nolt was arrested May 21, 2006, when he arrived at a supposed meeting place in Elizabethtown Borough. Investigators said he had sexual-aid products in his possession.
