Topekan receives two life terms for sexual assault of 5-year-old

Using Jessica’s Law for the first time in Kansas, a Topeka man was sentenced to two consecutive life terms Friday for the sexual assaults of a 5-year-old boy.

A jury on Feb. 13 had convicted Chad McMullen, 26, of two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. The assaults occurred on separate occasions in February 2007.

McMullen must serve a minimum of 25 years on each count, a total of 50 years, before he is eligible for parole, the earliest being 2058.

Sex offender charged with forcible rape

An Ontario County man was charged this week with first-degree sexual abuse, a felony, according to State Police.
Richard E. Aikey Jr., 33, of Canandaigua is accused of having forcible sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl at his residence earlier this year, troopers said.
Aikey, a previously-convicted sex offender, was arrested on Thursday, troopers said. He was arraigned in the Town of Hopewell Court and remanded to Ontario County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.U.S. Department of Justice records show Aikey was convicted in 1995 of abusing three boys under the age of 11.

Level 3 sex offender in Weymouth accused of assaulting a minor

A registered sex offender from Weymouth has been indicted on charges he again sexually assaulted a minor starting early last year.

The indictment charges Kenneth A. Joslyn, 44, with six counts of indecent assault and battery on a person under 14. He is due in court today for a dangerousness hearing.

Joslyn, who lives on Front Street, was convicted in 1996 of rape and abuse of a child, indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and indecent assault and battery on a mentally retarded person, according to the state Sex Offender Registry Board.
