Police Release Sketch of Accused Child Predator

INDIANAPOLIS – Metro detectives now have a better idea of who they’re looking for in two attempted abduction cases. It’s all thanks to a detailed description from two girls.

“She did a very good job not only of giving such detail but also in getting herself out of harm’s way by escaping from this car,” said Sgt. Paul Thompson of a 10-year-old girl who doesn’t want to be identified.

The girl says just before 8 a.m., December 18th, while she waited for her school bus at 35th Street and Sherman Avenue, a man tried to kidnap her.

“This guy knew that she was a child. She had on an IPS uniform. She was standing on a bus stop,” said the victim’s mother.

The mother, who also wants to remain anonymous, called police right away.

The night 24-Hour news 8 aired the story, another mother called police with a similar story about her daughter.

This time the victim was a few years older and it happened in the 2400 block of Wheeler Street.

They didn’t want their identities revealed either.

“I don’t think my daughter could have done a better job of remembering details,” said the second victim’s mother.

Police say details given by both girls led to a recently released sketch, which includes a distinct scar.

“That’s under his left eye. It’s a long scar. Starts just below the eye and continues down to his mouth. There is also a slight separation in the upper front teeth,” said Thompson.

Another thing the two girls noticed was the car the suspect used. They say it was a maroon or red colored 90’s model Cadillac.

Police say anyone with information on this case should call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
