Jeffery Jannuzzi Sentenced to 12 years Child Pornography

A 48-year-old Amherst man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison after being convicted on charges he received and distributed child pornography on his computer.

Jeffery Jannuzzi was convicted of one count each of possession of child pornography, receipt/distribution of child pornography and receipt/distribution of visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

All of the charges relate to material found on computers, said Bill Edwards, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for northern Ohio. Jannuzzi was sentenced by Judge Christopher A. Boyko on Wednesday to serve 151 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, according to court documents.

Michael Smith ~ Printed Child Porn Images at Work

“Smith was utilizing the company-issued computer to download child pornography for his own personal, sexual gratification,” the plea agreement states.

A former BAE Systems employee who attempted to print child porn images from his work computer has agreed to plead guilty to a federal child porn charge.

Michael Smith appeared in U.S. District Court in Greeneville earlier this month and agreed to plead guilty to a one-count information charging him with knowingly possessing a computer hard drive that contained child pornography images.

Smith faces a maximum 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when sentenced on Jan. 3.

According to the plea agreement, on Nov. 1, 2006, Smith, while at BAE Systems, attempted to print some child pornography images he had downloaded on his computer. Another BAE Systems employee discovered the photos on the company printer and advised management.

Court records state Smith accessed the Web sites where the child porn images were found on his work computer.

The FBI found more than 400 discrete images on Smith’s computer, with 188 confirmed to be child pornography. Many of those images were of prepubescent children.

“Smith was utilizing the company-issued computer to download child pornography for his own personal, sexual gratification,” the plea agreement states.

U.S. District Judge J. Ronnie Greer filed a notice on Dec. 4 stating his intention for Smith to undergo a psychosexual evaluation in order to assist him with sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Reeves filed a response the next day saying such an evaluation would be appropriate.

Spanish police arrest 63 in child pornography swoop

Spanish police said on Sunday they had arrested 63 people across the country in five investigations into child pornography being posted, viewed and paid for on the Internet.

It is the second huge swoop this year after police arrested 66 people on charges of child pornography in July. Last year, the state attorney said the number of under-age pornography investigations had risen 48.4 percent.

The police said some of the people they arrested this time had produced child pornography material that was then posted on the Web. They also arrested four Russians who had made about 200,000 euros ($290,600) from selling access to pictures.

In one of the investigations, police found footage of a 10-year-old being abused by an adult which led them to evidence of eight other minors being mistreated.

Another of the investigations found films of a 13-year-old girl being abused by two members of her family.

WA sex fiend Allon Lacco lives near schools

ONE of WA’s most violent sexual predators has moved to Victoria, where he is living near two schools under an assumed identity.

Allon Mitchell Lacco, 42, is a career criminal with convictions for rape, aggravated indecent assault, grievous bodily harm and breaking and entering.

He was dubbed a “monster” in the Supreme Court after the vicious bashing and sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl as she slept in her Leederville home in 1989.

That attack came just weeks after he raped a 29-year-old woman as she lay in bed next to her two-year-old son.

Lacco moved to the leafy Geelong suburb of Belmont several weeks ago, within 600m of two primary schools, where he has assumed the name of Allon Williams.

Victorian police are monitoring Lacco, but say he is not on the Victorian register of sex offenders.
Residents of Ursa St, Geelong, were outraged this week to learn of their new neighbour’s background, and too frightened about their own safety to be named.

“It’s very worrying,” one woman said. “We will definitely be on our guard.”
Another said he was disgusted families had no rights to be warned about sexual predators moving into their neighbourhoods.

“There are families with young children in that street and it’s not right,” he said. “We certainly don’t want him here.”

It is believed Lacco has claimed to be living with relatives, though neighbours said a steady stream of tenants had lived in the newly built home in the past few months.

A WA detective who has dealt with Lacco several times in the past 15 years described him as a “very nasty piece of work”.

“He’s one of WA’s worst criminals and his record shows that,” he said.

Lacco was given a nine-month suspended sentence in May this year for bashing a 42-year-old woman who suffered a broken cheekbone.

The sentence provoked outrage from the public and Police Commissioner Karl O’Callaghan, who said the magistrate had “showed such a lack of regard for the safety of the community by releasing Allon Lacco”.

“Lacco has a shocking criminal record and police believe the risk of him re-offending is high,” Mr O’Callaghan said at the time.

Kylie Newman, a spokeswoman for national internet sex offender registry Mako, said it was outrageous that a repeat sex offender such as Lacco could move into a neighbourhood anonymously.

“The loopholes that exist in the sex offender registries mean these people can just go from state to state and slip under the radar,” she said.

“This is a good example of why we need a public register of offenders so people can be warned.”

A spokeswoman for WA’s Department of Corrective Services said Lacco was not subject to the Dangerous Sexual Offenders Act — introduced to keep the worst sex offenders in jail beyond their sentences — because his most recent offence was not of a sexual nature.

Police Locate Missing Level III Sex Offender

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and the Lynnwood Police Department have located level 3 sex offender Michael John Roe.

Roe, 54, who was wanted for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for sentencing after being found guilty of failure to register as a sex offender in King County Superior court was found Friday afternoon.

Rose was last registered as a sex offender in Lynnwood, but officials say he is not living there.

Roe used multiple aliases and is police said they believed he was probably living under a false name.

According to officials, Roe uses a fake name, age, and employment information to develop relationships with women.

According to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s office, Roe pled guilty to one count of second-degree assault after sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl he met on a telephone dating service in 1995.

Roe allegedly used the alias of “Mike Valentino” when he met the girl and spoke to her for about a week before meeting her in person at his residence.

According to court documents, once the teen arrived at his house they played board games and Roe made advances toward the victim, which she declined.

As the teen tried to leave, Roe grabbed the girl and held her down on the bed while he tied her up and sexually assaulted her.

While awaiting court proceedings in the case, Roe sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl.

The girl’s mother left Roe at a motel room with the girl so that he could “counsel” her, court documents said.

Roe engaged in sexual conversation with the girl and sexually assaulted her while having her perform “relaxation exercises,” court documents revealed.

Roe pled guilty to one count first-degree child molestation and was sentenced to 82 months for the two crimes.

According to court documents, Roe participated in the sex offender treatment program while in prison but was terminated from the program due to his lack of progress by denying and minimizing his sexual offense behavior.

In 1986, Roe was convicted in Columbus, Ohio for one count gross sexual imposition after he sexually assaulted a woman.

According to documents, Roe grabbed the woman’s genitalia as she was walking on a college campus.

Investigators said Roe has an extensive criminal history with multiple convictions of theft and fraud and he has taken advantage of vulnerable women and convinced them to financially support him.

Roe admitted to police that he has conned over 400 women, police said.

Roe’s status as a level 3 offender coupled with his attempt to avoid law enforcement and the legal system increased the likelihood of him seeking additional assistance from women for the purpose of continuing to avoid law enforcement, officials said.

Roe uses telephone dating services and online chat services to meet women and to engage women in telephone and cyber sex.

While on supervision with the Washington State Department of Corrections, Roe was incarcerated several times for violations of his conditions of supervision including his continued misrepresentation of his identity and using telephone and online chat services to meet women.

He also portrayed himself as a minor female online and was soliciting minor females for sexual encounters.

Roe has been reviewed on two occasions as a sexually violent predator. In both cases he was found not to meet the criteria of a sexually violent predator although he has been determined to be at very high risk to reoffend.

Suspect has sex-offender past

A man accused of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl at a Phoenix playground earlier this week spent nearly 12 years in prison for committing a virtually identical crime.

And in November, he was arrested and jailed after police saw him running naked down Van Buren Street. He was then released on his own recognizance, despite his sex-offender status.

Court records describe William R. Speed, 35, as psychologically troubled and prone to hearing voices.

About 7 p.m. Wednesday, Speed reportedly approached a girl playing on a jungle gym in a park near Van Buren Street and 12th Avenue. Police said Speed had partially removed his clothes and the girl’s clothes before family members and witnesses heard the girl’s screams and pulled him off her. They held him down until police arrived, according to Phoenix police spokeswoman Stacie Derge.

The girl did not suffer any serious physical injury, Derge said, but was traumatized by the attack.

The attack appeared to be random, Derge said, and police have no reason to believe that the girl knew him.

Speed was charged with sexual conduct with a minor.

The attack bore close resemblance to a 1995 attack on a 7-year-old girl that sent Speed to prison for nearly 12 years.

On September 23, 1995, Speed approached a girl who was walking her dog near his apartment. As the child was cleaning up after her dog, according to court records, Speed sat down next to her and removed his pants, then partially disrobed the girl and sexually assaulted her. Onlookers chased Speed and caught him.

Because of that attack, Speed was charged with kidnapping and sexual conduct with a minor, but in July 1996, he pleaded guilty to attempted sexual conduct with a minor and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

During interviews for his presentence report and a psychological evaluation in the court record, he told evaluators that he heard voices in his head and on the radio that told him to “have sex with a baby.” He thought the girl in the 1995 attack was enticing him, he said.

Speed is originally from San Jose, Calif. He told evaluators that his stepfather was sent to a mental institution for child molestation and that a stepmother had sexual relations with him as a teen. He was arrested but not charged for a pair of petty incidents in the 1990s before the attack that sent him to prison.

Speed was first released from the Arizona Department of Corrections in January 2006 after serving 85 percent of his sentence but was sent back a year later to finish out his term after a technical parole violation that corrections officials did not specify. He was released Oct. 5.

A little more than a month later, at about 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 7, he was arrested after running naked behind a bar in the 1800 block of West Van Buren Street. Speed told the arresting officer that he had just smoked cocaine and felt like taking off his pants and running, court records show.

Speed was charged with indecent exposure in that incident and initially held on bond. Then, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, he was released on Nov. 16. He was allowed to go free on Tuesday of this week following a hearing, according to court records.

Because of the 1996 conviction, Speed is registered as a Class 3 sex offender, the highest level, and Derge said he kept his sex-offender registration current; he listed his address as an overflow homeless shelter on Madison Street, a half-mile south of the park where Wednesday’s attack took place.

There were no stipulations in Speed’s registration that say he cannot be around children, Derge said.
