20-year-old held on $200,000 bond for allegedly abusing 4-year-old girl

A New Albany man accused of molesting a 4-year-old girl in her 2-year-old brother’s presence is being held in jail on a $200,000 bond.

Blake M. Alexander, 20, is set to stand trial for two charges linked to the alleged Nov. 30 molestation — class B felony child molesting and class C misdemeanor illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage. He faced an initial hearing on the allegations Tuesday in Floyd Superior Court, where Judge Susan L. Orth ordered the bond and no contact with the victim. She also approved his request for a public defender.

Alexander, who can be bonded out on approximately $20,000, allegedly was caught performing oral sex acts on the 4-year-old girl by the victim’s mother and her boyfriend.

When police found him after interviewing the family at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, his blood alcohol content was .17 percent. Since Alexander is not of legal drinking age, prosecutors charged him in connection with that alleged offense.

Alexander’s last known address is on Beechwood Avenue. His potential sentence if convicted of class B felony child molesting is six to 20 years incarceration plus a $10,000 fine. The sentencing guidelines for a C misdemeanor call for up to 60 days in jail and a fine of up to $500.

Alexander’s next court date is Jan. 8. His jury trial is scheduled to be held April 7

FBI tip-off leads to child porn arrest

A NEW South Wales man faces child pornography charges after a tip-off from US authorities led federal police to raid a property on the state’s north coast.

The 43-year-old Port Macquarie man has been charged with using a carriage service, namely the internet, to download images of child pornography.

Australian Federal Police (AFP) launched an investigation into the man’s actions after being contacted by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Computer equipment, disks and videos allegedly were seized during today’s raid and will undergo forensic testing, the AFP said.

The man was bailed to appear in Port Macquarie Local Court on December 17.

Former principal admits porn charges

A retired school principal who yesterday admitted 11 charges relating to child pornography on his computer won’t know his fate until next year.

Ian Wilson, 62, admitted 10 charges of possessing the pornography and one of distributing it when he appeared in Palmerston North District Court.

The summary of facts wasn’t read to Judge Alistair Garland but court documents show police began investigating Wilson after their German counterparts forwarded information late last year.

This related to the trading of child sex abuse images by New Zealanders from a number of forums on a server in Germany.

Images, mainly of young boys from 3 years of age to 14, were being uploaded and downloaded. Wilson was found to have accessed the site and his Havelock North home was searched in March.

Examination of his computer showed that over a period of at least two years he had downloaded and looked at more than 9000 images in relation to the sexual exploitation of young boys.

He wrote to Internal Affairs, saying he was erasing material, adding that the action of the department was a “catalyst”.

The greying, neatly dressed Wilson, who was represented by Fergus Steedman, was remanded on bail for sentence on February 5.

He was ordered to surrender his passport and not access the internet during this time.
