Myrtle Beach man arrested in internet predator sting

Attorney General Henry McMaster announced Tuesday that 22-year-old Santos Azaredo of 4616 Southgate Parkway in Myrtle Beach, was arrested on Monday, following an undercover Internet sting conducted by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news release from the Attorney General’s office, Azaredo was arrested on two counts of Criminal Solicitation of a Minor, a felony offense punishable to ten years imprisonment on each count.

The news release says that arrest warrants allege that beginning on March 9, 2007, Azaredo began soliciting sex on the Internet from an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. According to the release, in reality, Azaredo was communicating with undercover Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Deputies.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office is a member of the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

According to the release, Azaredo’s mother consented to the seizure of a laptop computer used by him at the residence.

The Horry County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest.

Azaredo was assigned a $25,000 bond.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.

This is the one hundred sixth arrest for the Task Force.
