Brad Rokos is accused of obscene online contact with an underaged girl.
Police arrested a registered sex offender Thursday for allegedly seeking sexual contact with an underaged girl and e-mailing obscene photos.
Brad James Rokos, 40, of Petoskey was arraigned Friday in Lenawee County District Court on felony counts of attempted accosting a child for immoral purposes and using a computer to commit a crime and three misdemeanor counts of attempted furnishing obscene materials to a child. Bond was set at $101,500, and a preliminary examination was scheduled for Nov. 26.
Adrian Police Detective Vincent Emrick said he posed as an underage girl online and was contacted by Rokos. Three times Rokos sent Emrick obscene photos of himself and they twice arranged for him to meet Emrick’s underage persona.
“Both times he claimed something would come up, so I paid him a visit,” Emrick said.
Rokos worked in the information technology department for a company in Petoskey and sent the photos from work, Emrick said.
According to the Illinois sex offender registry, Rokos was convicted of criminal sexual conduct with a person younger than 18 in Cook County but it does not say when the offense took place. The Michigan sex offender registry shows the offense as having been with someone younger than 13. Michigan law requires registered sex offenders from other states to register in Michigan if they move here.
